Ongoing career and professional development is important at UOW

You will have the opportunity to complete training courses, embark on a course of study or simply receive the support you require to achieve your career goals.

More than 100 courses are on offer, in areas such as career development and progression, professional development, communication, occupational health and safety, finance, leadership and management, cultural awareness, customer service, IT and systems.

MENTORING FOR NEW MEMBERS: As you progress in your career, training and mentoring will be available to ensure you are comfortable and effective in your position.

IMPACT @UOW - LEADERSHIP IN ACTION: If you are not already in a leadership role, you may be nominated to participate in this program which develops leadership and management capabilities in a stimulating and practical environment.

SENIOR STAFF LEADERSHIP: Be selected to strengthen your capacity to respond proactively to changes in higher education and increased demands on the organisation, and to manage competent and innovative staff.

POSTGRADUATE STUDY: Develop the skills and knowledge which are critical to your current role. You will be able to apply for a sponsored place in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) or any other UOW postgraduate course deemed relevant to your position.

STUDY TIME: Gain a qualification in a field of study directly relevant to your current and future work at UOW. Our study allowance will assist with the cost of an undergraduate degree.

SECONDMENT: AT UOW, your career is mobile, with opportunities for secondment to other departments, faculties or campuses.

TERTIARY EDUCATION MANAGEMENT CONFERENCE: Develop your knowledge of, and experience in, the education industry through sponsorship to attend this annual conference.

BUSINESS COACHING: Complete a Graduate Certificate in Business Coaching through our Sydney Business School – you can apply for partial funding by the University. UOW also has a pool of internal coaches that provides free coaching around your professional needs.

NETWORKING: You will have access to a range of informal and formal networking opportunities such as TechNet, the network for technical staff, and AdminNet for administrative staff.

CERTIFICATE IV IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION OR DIPLOMA OF MANAGEMENT You may be eligible for sponsorship to complete these qualifications through the Government Incentive Program.

EXTERNAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM: As an experienced staff member, recognised for your exceptional contribution to the University, you will have the opportunity to enhance your skills and knowledge by undertaking career development opportunities outside the University.
