TIPS ON WRITING YOUR CURRICULUM VITAE

When compiling your CV you should remember that future employers want to know:

  • Where you have worked
  • When you worked there
  • The nature of the position
  • Your accountabilities
  • Your achievements
  • What contributions you made or value you added
  • Your qualifiScations
  • How to contact you

Layout of the your CV - helpful tips:

  • Tailor your CV to the position you are applying for
  • Substance over form - no fancy borders etc
  • Use white space - the reader can scan for important details
  • Use font size and style which is easy to read
  • Use present tense verbs to describe and bullet points to highlight accountabilities and responsibilities
  • Explain periods of unemployment eg overseas holidays, home duties etc
