A There are no separate application forms for you to complete. When applying online, you will be required to fill in some basic information to help us with your application.

Q How long will the process take? Back to top
A Approximately 2 weeks after the closing date, you will be contacted by the University if you have been successful in advancing to the next stage. Interviews are generally held within 1 month of the closing date. Decisions are made soon after the last interview held, and offers made (subject to reference checks and verification of qualifications) within the week.

Q At what stage will I be required to provide evidence of my qualifications? Back to top
A

You are not required to include copies of qualifications in your application. You will however be required to provide original evidence of professional and/or academic qualifications during the recruitment process. The University of Wollongong may subsequently verify these qualifications with the issuing institution.

If you are applying for an academic position you should include a list of published material in your application. Copies of these publications are not required to be included in your application.

Q References – My current supervisor/manager does not know that I am applying for another job, but I am required to provide a Referee who is a supervisor. What alternate referees can I give? Back to top
A

At the application stage, you can nominate alternate referees ie previous supervisor/manager, either from a previous place of employment or a previous position with your current employer. For Academic appointments, we will need to contact referees to obtain written reports prior to the interview as well. For all appointments, we will contact referees verbally prior to an offer being made.

If there are any difficulties with contacting your current supervisor at the interview or offer stage, please discuss this with the Recruiter to work out a suitable alternative. You may also be asked to provide additional referee at interview.

We will advise you before we contact any referees.

Q I would like to work part-time or on a casual basis, is there a register I can put my name on? Back to top
A

The University of Wollongong has a preferred supplier relationship with Focus Personnel and Training. We encourage candidates who are interested in temporary/casual assignments with the University to register with Focus. Please refer to our home page for contact details

Each Faculty/Department/Unit employs casual staff directly, which may or may not be advertised on UOW website.
