Qualifications

Are your qualifications equivalent and/or recognised in Australia? If not, what steps or courses can you take to ensure that you are able to convert your qualifications to Australian standards?

Professional Organisations will often have websites that will outline the requirements for your qualifications to be recognised in Australia. A good place to start your investigation will be The National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (AEI - NOOSR) within the Department of Education, Science and Training.

Work rights for family members

The visa that you hold will determine whether your family members may or may not be able to work for the duration of your stay in Australia. For information regarding work rights, please refer to the Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs.

Economic and Working Conditions

Needless to say, the health of the economy will dictate the employment prospects. This will contribute to making a sound judgement about the cost of living and purchasing power of your income. You should consider factors like Superannuation (the Australian Retirement Fund scheme), medical coverage (ie Eligibility for Medicare which is the Australian national health scheme).
